The motorcycle world is witnessing a technological paradox: Chinese manufacturer Zongshen, through its Cyclone brand, is finally launching the RA1000, the production version of the RA9 concept. The model is an aggressive naked bike powered by a revised version of the Aprilia Shiver 900 V-twin engine, with displacement increased to 996 cc and a power output of approximately 106 hp.
Looks are ewoking Ducati Diavel (thanks to the single-sided swingarm and 240 mm rear tyre), and at the front end ewoking also Yamaha V-Max looks.
The Cyclone RA1000 demonstrates Zongshen's immense ambition, despite its historic ties with Piaggio. But its late debut highlights how, in China's current landscape, innovation is no longer a matter of years, but rather months.
